Siskiyou Dogs Running at Large Law Text:

Chapter 3, Article 14, Sec. 5-3.14.01. – Dogs at large

No person owning, having charge, care, control or custody at any time shall permit, allow, or cause any dog owned, controlled, harbored, or kept by him to roam, run, or stray away from the premises where such dog is kept or harbored, except in the company or custody and under the control of the owner or some responsible person.

No person at any time shall allow, permit, or cause any dog to run on the land of another without the permission of the owner or person in possession of such land. Dogs which are being used for the movement of livestock or other farm-related duties and dogs, which are being used lawfully in the pursuit of game animals or birds shall be considered under the control of the owner or other responsible person. The requirements of this section shall be in addition to all other restrictions applying to dogs and the owners of dogs within the County, and any violation of the provisions of this section shall be a misdemeanor with a minimum fine of Fifty and no/100ths ($50.00) Dollars and may result in the impounding of the dog.

Dorris Dogs at Large Law

Dorris Dogs at Large Law Text:

Chapter 6.08, Section 6.08.070 Animals at large.

A. It is unlawful for any owner and/or possessor of any animal to suffer or permit such animal to be at large as defined in this section. Violation of this section, as authorized by Sections 6.24.010 through 6.24.090 and Section 6.08.020, is subject to impoundment, and the owner may be subject to citation for repeated violations. When the animal control officer sees a dog at large but is unable to impound the dog, a notice to the owner/possessor if known shall be placed on the owner’s/possessor’s front door with the time and place the animal was observed at large a copy of this notice will be kept in the city offices

B. In the case of dogs, at large” means a dog that is not on the premises of its owner and/or possessor or the premises of another with permission of the owner or occupant thereof, or not under physical restraint by a person capable of controlling the dog by means of a leash not exceeding six feet in length.

This definition shall not apply to:

1. Guide dogs for the blind or hearing impaired or duly licensed companion dogs while their duties;

2. Dogs participating in field or obedience trials or animal exhibitions;

3. Dogs assisting their owner and/or possessor in the herding of livestock;

4. Dogs assisting a security guard or assisting a peace officer engaged in law enforcement duties.

Dunsmuir Dogs Running at Large Law

Dunsmuir Dogs Running at Large Law Text:

Title 6, Chapter 6.16.060 – Impoundment of dogs generally.

A. Every dog found or being on any public street of the city and not held or led by a cord or chain, or confined in any vehicle, shall be taken by the poundmaster to and impounded in the public pound, where it may be redeemed by the owner or person entitled to the possession of the dog, within three days thereafter.

No person who owns or has charge, custody, control or possession of a dog shall allow it to run at large so that it is subject to impoundment. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of an infraction.

Etna Running at Large Law Text:

Chapter 6.07, Section 6.07.010 Impoundment of dogs.

A. Any dog found at large within city limits may be taken by the animal control officer and impounded, as authorized by resolution. No person who owns/possesses a dog shall allow it to run at large so that it is subject to impoundment. Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of an infraction and subject to the fines set by the bail schedule plus the costs of impoundment.

Fort Jones Animals at Large Law

Fort Jones Animals at Large Law Text:

Chapter 6.08, Sec. 6.08.020. – Domestic animals at large.

(a) It is unlawful for any animal owner to permit the animal to be at large in the town. This section does not apply to the following:

1. Guide dogs for vision- or hearing-impaired persons while performing their duties.

2. Dogs participating in field or obedience trials and animal exhibitions.

3. Dogs assisting their owner in the herding of livestock.

4. Dogs assisting a security guard or police officer engaged in law enforcement duties.

(b) The animal control officer shall apprehend and impound any animal found running at large in violation of this section. The owner of an impounded animal may reclaim the animal upon payment of the impoundment fees and any required licensing fee.

Montague Animals at Large Law Text:

Title 6, Chapter 6.04, Section 6.04.260 Animals at large.

A. It is unlawful for any owner and/or possessor of any animal to suffer or permit such animal to be at large as defined in this section. Violations of this section are subject to citation and the animal at large is subject to impoundment as authorized by Sections 6.04.060 through 6.04.150.

B. In the case of dogs, “at large” means a dog that is not on the premises of its owner and/or possessor or the premises of another with permission of the owner or occupant thereof, or not under physical restraint by a person capable of controlling the dog by means of a leash not exceeding six feet in length. This definition shall not apply to:

1. Guide dogs for the blind or hearing impaired while performing their duties;

2. Dogs participating in field or obedience trials or animal exhibitions;

3. Dogs assisting their owner and/or possessor in the herding of livestock;

4. Dogs assisting a security guard or assisting a peace officer engaged in law enforcement duties.

Title 9, Section 9.04.050 Dogs – Leash required – When.

Persons owning or having control of dogs must keep such animals upon a leash at all times when such animals are upon public streets, alleys, sidewalks or other public places within the City of Mt. Shasta.

Weed Dogs Running at Large Law

Weed Dogs Running at Large Law Text:

Chapter 6.12, Section 6.12.010 – Running at large.

No owner or keeper of a dog shall allow or permit such dog, whether licensed or unlicensed, to be or run at large within the city in or upon any public place or premises, or in or upon any private place or premises other than those of the owner or keeper except with the consent of the person in charge of the private place or premises, unless such dog is securely restrained by a substantial leash, not to exceed six feet in length, and is in the charge and control of a person competent to keep such dog under effective charge and control; provided, however, nothing in this title shall prevent a dog from being used without a leash in the conduct of obedience trials and training classes, or to herd, guard, gather or otherwise work domestic animals or fowl in or upon a public place or premises, so long as such dog is under the charge and control of a person competent to keep such dog under effective charge and control, and so long as such dog does not wrongfully harm or damage, or threaten to harm or damage, any person or public or private property. For purposes of this section, any dog in or upon any vehicle shall be deemed to be on the premises of the operator thereof.

Title 8, Section 8.08.120 – Running at large prohibited.

No owner or keeper of a dog shall allow or permit such dog, whether licensed or unlicensed, to be or run at large within the city in or upon any public place or premises, or in or upon any private place or premises other than those of the owner or keeper except with the consent of the person in charge of the private place or premises, unless such dog is securely restrained by a substantial leash not to exceed six feet in length and is in charge and control of a person competent to keep such dog under effective charge and control; provided, however, nothing in this chapter shall prevent a dog from being used without leash in the conduct of obedience trials and training classes, or to herd, guard, gather or otherwise work domestic animals or fowls in or upon a public place or premises so long as such dog is under the charge and control of a person competent to keep such dog under effective charge and control and so long as such dog does not wrongfully harm or damage or threaten to harm or damage any person or public or private property.
