Tehama County Dog Leash Laws

Dogs are members of society in the United States on most basic levels, and that’s certainly true in Tehama County. If you spend any time in the area, you’ll see people out and about with their dogs. Tehama County Dog Leash Law

The Tehama County dog leash laws govern the unincorporated areas of the county.

Tehama County Dogs Running at Large Law Text:

Chapter 7.25, Section 7.25.050 – Dogs running at large prohibited.

No person shall permit a dog to run at large from private property owned by the owner of such dog, or from private property to which such owner has a right of possession, except in the following situations:

A. When the dog is assisting a law enforcement officer in the performance of police work;

B. When the dog is assisting a duly authorized person in an official search and rescue operation;

C. When the dog is assisting its owner in working, herding or controlling livestock;

D. When the dog is assisting its owner in hunting on private property with the consent of the owner, lessee or other person in control thereof;

E. When the dog is participating in a dog training class, exhibition or competition, or an ongoing training program related thereto, under the direction and control of a dog trainer or other qualified person on public property with the consent of the owner or operator of the grounds or facilities, or on private property with the consent of the owner, lessee or other person in control thereof;

F. For purposes of this section, a dog cannot be deemed to be running at large if it is restrained by a substantial leash and is under the physical control of its owner.

Red Bluff Running at Large Law

Red Bluff Running at Large Law Text:

Article II, § 4.37 DOGS AT LARGE.

Any owner, custodian or keeper of a dog shall be in violation of this section if the dog is found at large or astray in the city. A dog is at large or astray whenever it is elsewhere than on the premises of the owner, custodian or keeper of the dog and is not restrained by substantial leash or tether or the dog is on the premises of the owner, custodian or keeper, but is unattended or is not restrained by an enclosure or chain.

Corning Running at Large Law

Corning Running at Large Law Text:

Title 6, Section 6.16.180 – Keeping of dogs-Offenses.

It is unlawful for any person, persons, firm or corporation, owning, harboring, controlling, or keeping a dog within the city:

A. To permit such dog to be upon any street, alley, sidewalk or other public place in the city or upon the property within the city of persons other than the persons or entities owning, harboring, controlling or keeping such dog unless the dog is secured by a leash or line under the control of the person in charge of the dog, or is securely fastened to some permanent fixture, or confined or restrained in some other secure manner;
