Yuba County Dog Leash Laws
Dogs are a part of everyday life in Yuba County. When you in the area, you’ll see dogs running around with their humans as they go about their day. Dogs are not only part of our everyday life, but they are also a part of our families, which is why we do what’s necessary to give them happy, healthy and safe lives.

Yuba County Dog Leash Laws
Yuba County running at large laws govern the unincorporated areas of the county.
Yuba County Running at Large Law Text:
Chapter 8.05, Section 8.05.310. – At large animals.
(a) No person owning or having control of any animal, livestock or poultry shall permit such animal to stray or run at large upon any public street, other public place, any enclosed private lot belonging to another or any unenclosed private place in Yuba County with the exception of livestock on an open range.
(b) Whenever any animal, other than a working animal, is off the property of its owner or caretaker it must either:
1. Be under the control and in the immediate presence of the owner or caretaker; or
2. If the animal is a dog it must be restrained by a leash not to exceed eight feet in length or be under the control of the owner or caretaker.

Marysville Running at Large Law
Marysville Running at Large Law Text:
Title 8, Section 8.12.310 At large animals.
(a) No person owning or having control of any animal, livestock or poultry shall permit such animal to stray or run at large upon any public street, other public place, any enclosed private lot belonging to another or any unenclosed private place in the city of Marysville with the exception of livestock on an open range.
(b) Whenever any animal, other than a working animal, is off the property of its owner or caretaker it must either:
1. Be under the control and in the immediate presence of the owner or caretaker; or
2. If the animal is a dog, it must be restrained by a leash not to exceed eight feet in length or be under the control of the owner or caretaker.

Wheatland Running at Large Law
Wheatland Running at Large Law Text:
Chapter 6.04, § 6.04.080 Dogs running at large prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person who owns or keeps a dog within the city to allow or permit such dog, whether licensed or unlicensed, to run at large in or upon any public place or premises, including, but not limited to, public parks, school grounds, commercial districts, or in or upon any private place or premises, except with the written consent of the owner or person in charge of such private place or premises. In all public places or premises, and in all private places or premises where the owner or person in charge has not consented for a dog to run at large, dogs must be securely restrained by a substantial leash of not more than eight feet in length and shall be under the control of a responsible person at all times.
